Walking is a big part of our tours. It is not uncommon to walk 3 to 6 miles a day. However we realize that this is your vacation. If you feel you cannot meet the walking requirements for the day you certainly can choose to not participate in part of or all of the tour or activity. Just let your Tour Manager know.

Day 2 - Madrid Sightseeing and Old Madrid Walk

Walking tour of Old Madrid

Begin sightseeing with a walking tour of Old Madrid, including The Royal Palace, The Opera House and more.

San Gines Chocolateria visit

Stop at San Gines Chocolateria, the most famous churros shop serving churros since 1894. Sample churros con chocolate from the best of the best.

Visit Plaza Mayor, San Miguel Market, and Puerta del Sol

Visit Plaza Mayor, San Miguel Market and Puerta del Sol. After some free time for shopping, lunch is on your own.

Day 3 - Day Trip to Segovia and Return to Madrid

Day trip to Segovia

We will take a short drive for a day trip to see the charming city of Segovia. A fan favorite, Segovia has been an Iberian settlement since 700 BC.

Visit Segovia's central plaza, Roman Aqueduct, and Cathedral

While in Segovia we will visit the medieval town’s quaint central plaza, the impressive Roman Aqueduct, and the beautiful gothic cathedral. The Roman aqueduct, known as El Puente, is the best-preserved aqueduct left in the world. It carries water 10 miles from the Río Frío to Segovia.

Lunch and shopping at artisan stores

We will have a few hours for lunch and shopping at the artisan stores before we tour Queen Isabella’s Castle and tower.

Day 4 - Madrid to Granada, Olive Oil Experience

Today we check out of our Madrid hotel and head to Granada. It is the capital city of the Andalucian region of Spain. It is situated on the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. It is known for its medieval architecture and Moorish influence.

Olive Oil Mill Tour and Tasting

Before we arrive in Granada, we will head straight for the olive groves. We get a chance to capture the behind-the-scenes process of an old oil mill. We finish off the tour with an olive oil tasting experience.

We then head back into Granada’s center city.

Overnight Granada

When we arrive, we will check into our hotel. Our hotel itself is a historic landmark. It is a former monastery dating back to 1616. It is said that the covered walk was built over a Morabito or a Muslim shrine.

We can relax for the night or start a walking tour of some of the great sights of this Arabic influenced city.

Day 5 - Alhambra Fortress and Granada City

Visit the Alhambra Fortress

Today we get to visit the iconic Alhambra Fortress. We will have a guided tour of the Generalife Gardens, The Nasrid Palace and the rest of the grounds of this well-preserved palace. This fortress dates back to1238. It was the last palace of the Moors (Muslims from North Africa), before their final expulsion in 1492.

Arabic influences in Spain

The Arabic culture ruled throughout much of Spain from 711 to 1492. For this reason, travelers can see many strong Arabic influences in the architecture, language, and food throughout Spain.

We then head back into Granada’s center city.

We will host an optional walking tour of the city center of Granada. We will visit the Cathedral of Granada and check out the authentic tea houses of the tiny steep streets. If you prefer, you may explore Granada on your own.

Tonight, we will experience another passionate part of Spain’s culture, a fabulous Flamenco Show.

Day 6 - Day Trip to Sevilla and Return to Granada

Day trip to Sevilla

Get ready for a wonderful day trip to discover Sevilla. Upon arrival, we will guide you on an unforgettable tour of the city’s treasures, visiting the traditional Maestranza bullring, the majestic Cathedral, and the narrow and charming streets of the Barrio de Santa Cruz, also known as the old Jewish quarter.

Free time in Seville

After the guided tours, you will have some free time to enjoy Seville at your leisure, either by visiting the majestic Alcazar or simply strolling along the Guadalquivir River.

Return journey to Granada

Day 8 - Cartagena Bay Boat Tour and Valencia Arrival

We start off our day with a boat tour of the very important military bay. We will see castles, forts, lighthouses, docks, and yachts as we discover its military importance.

After lunch we make our way to the third largest city in Spain, Valencia. Our journey will take about 3 hours.

Tour of La Lonja

If you wish to stay in Valencia and explore more with us, we will visit La Lonja, built in the late fifteenth century, it was the center for silk exchange.

Visit Valencia’s Market and Scavenger Hunt

After our tour of La Lonja we will cross the street and visit Valencia’s enormous market. We will have a market scavenger hunt and unveil some unique and unusual foods.

Lunch on our own and the rest of the day is free for you to continue to explore.

Optional Activities in Valencia

You could visit the Oceanografic Aquarium with Beluga whales, take a quick trip to the beach, or head over to Ruzafa, one of Valencia’s trendiest neighborhoods. Known for its colorful street art, indie boutiques, and creative vibe, it’s a fun area to explore. You may wish to schedule a half day trip that takes you on a 50-minute ride to witness the underground labyrinth of the San Jose Caves.
