Day 1

Lucerne

We land in Zurich and board our scenic train to Lucerne. Marvel at the views as we wind through Lakes and the Alps. We drop our bags at the hotel and complete our welcome walking tour, including the old wall, the Medieval Chapel Bridge and Lucerne’s Altstadt, the old town. Your evening is free to explore the pristine lakeside setting of Lucerne. Dinner on own. Overnight Lucerne .

Lucerne

  

Breakfast at hotel. This morning, we will make our way to the famous Lion Monument and Glacier Gardens. This experience takes us on a journey into the history of the Earth, a museum, and a maze of mirrors. Next we admire St. Leodegar Cathedral and finish the afternoon with a scenic lake cruise. Spend the rest of the day exploring as you please. Dinner on own. Overnight Lucerne.

Lucerne to Interlaken

Breakfast at hotel. This morning we board our train for a short trip to Interlaken. Surrounded by the Alps and two lakes, Interlaken is the perfect Swiss town. Today we will ride a cogwheel train to the Harder Kulm. At over 4000 feet you'll experience commanding views of the Alps and surrounding area. Stay as long as you like and have dinner in the mountain top restaurant, or a drink over looking Interlaken. Dinner on own. Overnight Interlaken.

Interlaken

  

Breakfast in hotel. This morning we'll cross the scenic river Aare into the old town. Here we'll visit the  Stadthausplatz and it's 13th century clock tower. August 1st is Swiss National Day. This afternoon we will have the amazing chance to celebrate the culture with parades, concerts, delicious food, and fireworks. Talk about an amazing cultural experience! Dinner on own. Overnight Interlaken.

Interlaken

 Breakfast at hotel. Today is s free day for you to do what you choose. Perhaps you'll want  head to Grindelwald for a spectacular ride to The Eiger Glacier, and from there a cogwheel train will take you to the peak of Jungfrau and the Jungfraujoch the highest train station in Europe.  You may wish to visit Lauterbrunnen, known for it's many waterfalls, You can also reach the car free villages of Murren and Wengen from Lauterbrunnen. A scenic lake cruise on Lake Brienz is also a great way to spend the day. Maybe you just want to relax and enjoy the tranquility and shopping in Interlaken. Your tour manager will help you arrange whatever activities you decide to experience. Dinner on own. Overnight Interlaken

Interlaken to Freiburg

  

Breakfast at hotel. Say goodbye to Switzerland and hello to Germany. Today we head by train to Freiburg im Breisgau, the capital of the Black Forest. The history of the “free fortified town” dates to the early Middle Ages. We get to meander through the compact pedestrian streets and visit the colossal religious Munster. We will take a walking tour of the quaint town this afternoon. This evening, we can relax in one of the wonderful biergartens. Dinner on own. Overnight Freiburg.

Freiburg im Breisgau

  

Breakfast at hotel. This morning we will take a ½ day trip to the town of Triberg, home of the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock. It’s a once in a lifetime chance to shop for your very own handcrafted cuckoo clock! You can witness the world-famous cuckoo clocks and a little bit of free time in Triberg.  Return to Freiburg for a free afternoon and evening. You have the rest of the day to further explore, you can visit Europa Park, take the funicular to another beautiful lookout point, visit museums, or a nearby spa. Dinner on own. Overnight Freiburg.

Freiburg im Breisgau

  

Breakfast at hotel. This morning we will take a ½ day trip to the town of Strasbourg in France. A remarkably preserved medeviel town. Stunning architecture, unique shops and wonderful cuisine make this a stop to remember. Return to Freiburg for a free afternoon and evening. Spend this evening relaxing, shopping and enjoying the ambiance of Germany. Dinner on own. Overnight Freiburg.

Freiburg to Ettal

  

Breakfast at hotel. We will check out of our lovely centrally located hotel, board our coach bus and leave the beautiful Black Forest Region. We make our way to “Mad” King Ludwig’s fantasy Neuschwanstein Castle. We will enjoy the grounds and glorious views of one of the world’s most visited castles. That’s not all for this wonderful Wednesday in Germany. We will also get a chance to visit Linderhof Palace. The gardens and the artistic details of the palace are stunning. After our castle stop and palace tour, we will head to the quaint town of Ettal for an overnight stay. Ettal is in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park and our hotel is directly across from the beautiful Ettal Monastery. Dinner on own. Overnight Ettal.

Day 10

Ettal to Munich

Breakfast in hotel. This morning we board our bus for a short trip to Munich. On the way we will stop in Oberammergau to glide through the mountains on an alpine slide. Afterward, we head into Munich to see the Glockenspiel, an amazing display of German ingenuity. We continue to explore the Marienplatz,  the Frauenkirche,  and the Old Town Hall. No visit to Munich is complete without a stop into Hofbrauhaus, one of Munich's oldest beer halls. First founded in 1589 to serve the royal court it is still thriving today. Dinner on own. Overnight Munich 

Day 11

Munich

Breakfast in hotel. Today we continue to explore Munich. From it's royal palace to the iconic Lady of Bavaria statue overlooking the Octoberfest grounds. This afternoon you have free time for last minute shopping and relaxing. Dinner on own. Overnight Munich.

Day 12

Day 12 image

Munich to Home

Breakfast in hotel. Today we say goodbye to our wonderful adventure and head to Muich airport for our flight back to the United States.
